Since its founding in 1996, X2Y Attenuators, LLC has been a prime innovator in advanced passive component solutions. The result is a broad portfolio of inventions that enable OEMs and system companies to increase circuit performance while dramatically lowering the cost to manufacture their products.
The company’s business model is the development and licensing of passive component solutions to capacitor manufacturers who seek to build X2Y® capacitors for their customers. In return, X2Y Attenuators, LLC receives a licensing fee and royalty payment from the capacitor manufacturers. This model allows OEMs and system companies the freedom to incorporate X2Y® Technology into their own products by simply purchasing the components through normal supply chain channels.
Portfolio Development
The X2Y IP portfolio is the result of a multi-million dollar development effort to provide a foundational product offering of passive components for use in both AC and DC circuitry. Today, a substantial portion of our research and product development efforts are to enhance and expand beyond the original technology. This endeavor has already yielded new and significant application specific passive technologies that can provide a major reduction in parts along with a substantial cost reduction in assembly. In addition, X2Y encourages OEM’s to create patents that are a combination of their own proprietary inventions and the unique and versatile X2Y® circuit arrangements. As of now there are approximately 12 patents issued world-wide to corporations that leverage the benefits of X2Y® Technology in their products.

X2Y Attenuators, LLC currently has over 7,200 unique and interrelated Patent claims for capacitor structures, circuit uses and application in products. The result is a portfolio with a matrix of claims that when taken as a whole comprise a "Super Patent" of X2Y® Technology. The X2Y Patent Portfolio also includes all types of derivative electrode structures and circuitry.
Beginning with our first Patent filed in March of 1991, X2Y patents have been filed and/or issued in key countries around the world including Australia, Canada, China, the European Union (including England, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland), India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Singapore and the United States of America.
IP Protection
X2Y Attenuators, LLC vigorously protects the technology contained in its patent portfolio to ensure consistent circuit performance, product availability to all users of X2Y® Technology and to fund ongoing R&D efforts. In order to prevent manufacture or usage of counterfeit parts, many of X2Y's patents are defensive in nature and used only for enforcement against those using X2Y® capacitors not built by one of the company’s licensed manufacturers.
